Accepted Flowers During The Holidays

Read our regulations concerning the placement of natural flowers during the holiday season in our mausoleums.

These natural flowers are allowed fifteen (15) days before and no later than seven (7) days after the holiday.

 

  • Natural flowers that have a plastic membrane inside the pot or a saucer under the pot to avoid water damage.
  • Natural flowers in luminary vases

 

We ask that you avoid:

 

  • Flowers in a plastic or glass bottle with water because of the risk of water damage they represent.

     

Candles, lanterns and candle holders are allowed except in the following chapels:

 

  • Sainte-Thérèse
  • Notre-Dame
  • Saint-François
  • Saint-Antoine-de-la-Paix et de l'Amitié
  • Jean-Paul-II (see our regulations, page 20, section 5.8).

 

The Fabrique staff will remove all flowers, including vases, after this time frame This article does not apply to the St. Marguerite d'Youville mausoleum, where flowers on the ground are prohibited at all times.

P.S. The Fabrique may remove or order the removal, at the concession holder’s expense, of any object it considers dangerous to public safety or not in compliance with the regulations in force or not respectful of the specific character of the premises or hindering the maintenance and development of the Cemetery. This includes, in particular, any construction, boundary marker, fence, cross, funerary marker, light, step or photograph. At its complete discretion, it may also remove or order the removal of any object that is inappropriate or not respectful of the Christian faith.

The cemetery will be inaccessible on Sunday, September 15, 2024, as the City of Montréal proceeds with street closures for the 13th edition of the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal. Crossing points will be available for pedestrians only at the main entrances on Côte-des-Neiges and at the corner of Decelles. The City of Montréal will close the streets around the cemetery at 4 a.m. with a gradual reopening at 4 p.m. Please note that the Remembrance entrance will be closed to pedestrians.

 

The Marguerite-D'Youville mausoleum (M8) is temporarily closed until further notice for maintenance and renovations.

For the families who are currently waiting for engravings/inscriptions in the following mausoleums: Marguerite Bourgeoys (M4) - La Pietà (M5) - Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul (M6) ainsi que Sainte-Marguerite-D'Youville (M8); we will be contacting you once we get to your file.
